About Me

Hello! My name is Aubrey Walford McMichael, and I am your student's ELA or AVID teacher!

The 2023-2024 school year is my 10th year as a teacher. To get to this point, I received my Bachelor's Degree in English and English Education from Manhattanville College just outside of New York City. From there, I moved to Chicago and went on to join Teach for America, where I started my first 3 years of teaching while earning my Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Johns Hopkins University. I have always had a love for travel which is what brought me to these cities and around the world throughout my adult life! But, after 7 very cold winters, I was ready to move back to my hometown of San Diego. This is what landed me at The O'Farrell Charter School.

I am deeply proud to be a part of this community. Seeing our students grow from 6th graders to 8th graders in my ELA or AVID class, and on to High School graduates have become some of my most cherished memories. I'm excited to see this with your student in the very near future!

This school year I will also be serving as you 7th Grade Team Leader. I am here to support and answer all questions regarding 7th Grade.

Please Note: My husband and I are expecting our first child in early December! My maternity leave dates are currently November 13th-Late April/Early May; however, there is qualified staff transitioning to help assist in my absence during that time:
  • My long term teaching substitute is Mr. Nicdao
  • My Team Leader substitute is Ms. Harper
Please reach out to them if you have any questions.
